My name is Andy Cole and I am the founder of Laminar Capital Management. I grew up in Naples, FL and discovered my love for math and problem solving at an early age. Naturally, I thought engineering was the right path for me. Upon earning a master's degree in engineering from the University of Florida, I spent over a decade serving as an engineer and project manager for a couple of the top civil engineering firms in the country.

While working as an engineer I started to study more and more about investing. As an engineer, I naturally look to optimize everything I touch and my approach to investing is no exception. The more I learned about investing, the more I realized how inefficient the standard stock-centric portfolios were. Simultaneously, my passion for helping others with their finances also grew. It got to a point where I knew I needed to make a jump into financial services. Most folks in my situation would join an existing investment advisory in order to accomplish such a career change. In my case, there was not a firm in existence that was built to offer clients what I was wanting to provide: comprehensive financial planning and investment management built upon risk parity investing principles. I then formed Laminar Capital Management in 2019 in order to create such a company so I could help others try to invest more efficiently and make their financial journey more enjoyable.

I met my wonderful wife, Heather, while working in Dallas, TX. We have since moved to Nashville, TN and now to Huntsville, AL to be closer to family. We have two beautiful daughters, Lily and Addison. We love spending time with family and enjoy being involved with our church. When I'm not spending time with family or doing investment research, I enjoy backcountry backpacking trips and photography.
